CALL TO WORSHIP

https://canandaiguachurch.org/wp-content/uploads/Easter-Call-to-Worship-online-audio-converter.com_.mp3

Leader:  Hush, friends, before the wonder: the barren tomb has yielded fruit.
People: Death’s darkness has become the womb of life.

Leader:  Hush, friends, before the mystery: the one who was sealed up is now free.
People: Love’s power is loosed in the world.

Leader: Hush, friends, before the promise: our lives, our deaths, belong to God.
People: Nothing can separate us from God’s love.

Leader: Let the news echo in our hearts.
People: Let joy swell up in us like rivers in spring.

Leader:   Let all creation shout with praise:
People: Alleluia! God of life! Alleluia!

*HYMN                       Christ the Lord is Risen Today    arr. John Rutter ~ First-Plymouth Church Lincoln Nebraska

*INVOCATION (in unison)

https://canandaiguachurch.org/wp-content/uploads/Easter-Invocation-online-audio-converter.com_.mp3

Lord God, early in the morning, when the world was young, you made life in all its beauty and terror; you gave birth to all that we know.  Early in the morning, when the world least expected it, a newborn child crying in a cradle announced that you had come among us, that you were one of us. Early in the morning, surrounded by respectable liars, religious leaders, anxious statesmen and silent friends you accepted the penalty for doing good, for being God: you shouldered and suffered the cross. Early in the morning, a voice in the guarded graveyard and footsteps in the dew proved that you had risen, that you had come back to those and for those who had forgotten, denied and destroyed you.  This morning in this scattered yet united people, each in our own homes and yet united in spirit, we celebrate your creation, your life, your death, and resurrection. Lord bring new life where we are worn and tired, new love where we have turned hard-hearted, forgiveness where we feel hurt, and where we have wounded; and the joy and freedom of your Holy Spirit where we are prisoners of ourselves. Free our souls and fill us so that we will be your resurrection people. Amen.

RESPONSIVE PRAYER OF DEDICATION

https://canandaiguachurch.org/wp-content/uploads/Prayer-of-Dedication-online-audio-converter.com_-2.mp3

Leader:  Out of sight, out of hearing, outside of understanding

People: A stone rolled away

Leader:  Without a sound, without a fuss, without a show

People: The son walked

Leader:  While the world slept, while the world forgot, while the world didn’t care

People: The grave clothes fell

Leader:  As the disciples fled, as the women mourned, as the Pharisees sighed

People: The dead breathed

Leader:  As angels laughed, as the dawn broke, as the birds sang

People: The Savior rose

Leader:  As Pilate woke, as Herod dined, as Caiaphas prayed

People: Jesus laughed

Leader:  As the world waits, as the world wars, as the world fails to understand

People: The Spirit sighed

Leader: As we give ourselves to you we find that…

People: Resurrection happens! Alleluia! Amen.
