Please join us to discuss Dr. Marcus Borg’s books prior to him coming for the lecture series. Each of the following nights from 6:00-6:30pm we will enjoy a potluck dinner (so bring a dish to pass); then from 6:30-7:30pm we will discuss one of his books:

             Marcus J. Borg is internationally known in both academic and church circles as a biblical and Jesus scholar.  He is the author of twenty books, including the best-seller Meeting Jesus Again for the First Time (1994); The God We Never Knew (1997); Reading the Bible Again for the First Time (2001), and The Heart of Christianity (2003), all best-sellers. His newest books are Jesus: Uncovering the Life, Teachings and Relevance of a Religious Revolutionary (2006), a New York Times best-seller;  Conversations with Scripture: Mark (2009),  and three books co-authored with John Dominic Crossan, The Last Week (2006), The First Christmas (2007), and The First Paul (2009). And in May, he published his first novel, Putting Away Childish Things (2010).

Friday, September 24:

7:00 pm - 8:30 pm: “Speaking Christian”-lecture, Q & A, and discussion

Saturday, September 25: (daycare available for kids under 7 with reservation)

  9:00 am - 10:30 am: “Seeing God Again for the First Time”

11:00 am - 12:30 pm: “Meeting Jesus Again for the First Time”

12:30 pm - 1:30 pm: Lunch (Box lunch available for $8: choice of turkey, ham, or tuna)

  1:30 pm - 3:00 pm: “Seeing the Christian Life Again”

 Sunday, September 26:

10:30 - 11:30 am: “Open Hearts and Thin Places” (no charge)

             Church Members pay only $10 per session! For non-church members, all events have a $20 ticket price except Sunday (which is no charge). There are discounts available for non-church members who attend more than one lecture as follows: all lectures (4 paid= $70); full Saturday (3 paid= $55). To register for the event, call the church office at 394-2184 or click Borg link at top of page to register through paypal. You can receive Continuing Education Credit through the Colgate Rochester Crozer Divinity School if you register for all four lectures.   

     NOTE: Marcus Borg's books, which he will be lecturing on, are available for purchase at $15 each by reservation. Call the church office at (585)394-2184 and reserve your copies that will be available for pick up at the registration table at the event.

       Parkinson's Disease Support Group - This group meets the last Wednesday of each month at 1:00 p.m. in our church dining room and is for those with Parkinson's and for those who care for those effected by the disease. All are welcome. 

      Employment & Career Club - Come be a part of this community group designed to help provide answers to questions regarding resumes, interviewing, networking, changing careers, starting a new career and more.  The group meets the second Wednesday of each month from 6:30-8:30 pm. All are welcome! No registration is required, just show up! The agenda for each meeting is: Introductions, Weekly topic for education/Guest Speaker, Questions for group discussion and advice, and Event Announcements (Career Fairs, job lead sharing, companies with opportunities).
