First Congregational Church of Canandaigua, UCC
58 North Main Street, Canandaigua, New York 14424

We're a different kind of church:

We value and respect diversity in the ways we express our faith. We enjoy thoughful dialogue about faith issues. We encourage each other to work for justice and to care for people in need in our community and in our world.

At the First Congregational Church, we know God is still speaking. We invite you to learn more about us, our ministries and our programs. If you are seeking a faith community of thoughtful, compassionate people who are open to diversity and committed to caring, we invite you to join us at 9:30 a.m. this Sunday morning for worship and fellowship. Our beautiful church is also handicapped accessible. We hope you will visit us soon!
Upcoming Events: WOMEN ARTISTS
A CONTEMPORARY SHOW & SALE May 30th to June 1st, 2014

April 13th at 10:30 AM: We will have palm fronds to help us to celebrate Jesus' triumphal entry into Jerusalem. And we will have a special service of baptism during the service for one of our church families. The meditation by the pastor will be entitled, "A Place Where We are Nourished." Sunday School children and youth will leave at 10:45 for special activities in the Sunday School area. Nursery is available beginning at 10:15 in the Nursery area.

The Maundy Thursday service will occur on April 17th at 7pm. Please join us for this special service of communion and tenebrae, as the lights in the sanctuary are gradually reduced during the readings from the scriptures in this movingly-inspiring service. The quietness and time to reflect and remember helps us prepare for the joy of Easter and the presence of God in both the joys and struggles of our life. Our final Soup Supper will occur at 6pm that night, and we will finish our attempt to raise the money to contribute to the Cadence Square Housing project at the Canandaigua VA to purchase two beds for vets.

EASTER SUNDAY- April 20th at 10:30 AM:
With the sanctuary in full bloom, join us for this joyful celebration of the Resurrection, with a special presentation by the choir of Handel's magnificent "Hallelujah Chorus" from Messiah (choir director Edie Rice invites all singers who would like to join us to sing this wonderful piece to come at 9:30 am on April 20th to rehearse in the sanctuary). This will be a family Sunday and families are encouraged to worship together. Nursery is available beginning at 10:15 in the Nursery area.
